About Us
The Rip Van Winkle Tobacco-Free Coalition is made up of local individuals and organizations dedicated to decreasing illness and death caused by smoking and reducing the social and economic costs of tobacco use.
Rip Van Winkle Tobacco-Free is one of 29 Coalitions around the state funded by grants from the NYS Department of Health. Our common goals are:
- To eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke
- To support smokers' attempts to quit
- To prevent young people from becoming smokers
- To reduce the social acceptability of tobacco use
- The Rip Van Winkle Tobacco-Free Coalition of Columbia and Greene Counties is a program of the Healthcare Consortium. It is a grant funded by the New York State Department of Tobacco Use Prevention and Control.
